Dr Zahraa Al-Ahmady (PI, Group Leader)
Dr Zahraa Al-Ahmady stands as an Associate Professor in the Pharmacology Department at Nottingham Trent University, UK. She obtained her BSc Degree in Pharmacy from the College of Pharmacy, the University of Baghdad in 2004. After training as a clinical pharmacist, she moved to the United Kingdom to study for the Master in Drug Delivery at UCL School of Pharmacy, where she won the AstraZeneca Prize for the best overall performance.
In 2012, Zahraa completed her PhD studies at the Nanomedicine Lab at UCL School of Pharmacy, focusing on the design, characterization, and biological performance of temperature-sensitive vesicles for cancer therapy.
She then joined the NANOSOLUTIONS (FP7-NMP) European project as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Manchester. Her work was mainly focused on the structure–biological function relationship that determines the safety of engineered nanomaterials. Subsequently, she served as a research fellow at the North West Centre of Advanced Drug Delivery (NoWCADD), a collaborative effort between the University of Manchester's pharmacy division, the Nanomedicine Lab, and AstraZeneca. Her role centred on pioneering innovative therapeutic and in vivo imaging approaches.
At the forefront of her field, Dr. Al-Ahmady's lab is dedicated to exploring bold and efficient delivery approaches, specifically in the realms of neuroimmunology and oncology applications.
