Mohamad Jomaa (Summer Placement Student)
Mohamad Jomaa is an undergraduate student studying Biomedical Science at Nottingham Trent University, with an expected graduation in 2025. As part of his studies, he has explored various areas of science, including Genetics, Immunopharmacology, and Oncology.
He gained laboratory experience working as a medical laboratory assistant, where he operated in biochemical, haematological, and microbiological analyses. This role involved conducting routine testing, including Hb1ac, CRP, and other rapid antigen tests.
During his time at Al-Ahmady Lab, Mohamad experienced a research-based lab environment where he applied RNA interference technology to investigate the role of 1q amplification in multiple myeloma pathogenesis. He contributed to setting up and running tests, as well as gathering data and analysing cell viability assays.
Outside of his academic pursuits, Mohamad has taken on roles promoting and supporting higher education, serving as a course representative, student mentor, outreach ambassador, and panellist. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, rock climbing, and board games.
