Mitchell Hudson (PhD Researcher)

I am a PhD post-graduate researcher investigating potential biomarkers of Blood Brain Barrier ageing for in-vivo MRI imaging. My work is a collaborative effort between the PAVE and Al-Ahmady research groups at the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University, respectively.

I obtained both a BSc (Hons) and MSc (with distinction) in Biomedical Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University where I gained foundational theoretical and practical skills in biomedical investigative techniques and biotechnology.

Outside of academia, I gained 2 years of experience as a quality control microbiology apprentice, and 2 years of experience as a Higher Medical Laboratory Assistant in the NHS Microbiology labs, where I performed COVID PCR testing during the pandemic. Together with my academic experience, I have gained skills in in-vitro lab work, with an emphasis on molecular skills such as PCR and ELISA.

I find public outreach paramount, and as such volunteered as a STEM ambassador for 4 years, where I provided schools and colleges with science engagement exercises and presentations.
