Jessica Bates (PhD Researcher)
After studying for a BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry at Sheffield Hallam University, I specialised in the neuroscience field with an MSc in Translational Neuropathology from the University of Sheffield. From this, I joined the Al-Ahmady research group as a PhD researcher investigating the effects of ageing on the Blood-brain barrier and utilising nanomedicine technology to deliver therapeutics. I possess a range of experience in both in vitro and in vivo work with an emphasis on histological sample preparation and immunostaining. In my spare time, I enjoy the countryside, especially walking in the peak district with my dogs.
